Founding Platform/Backend Lead

About the role

What this role does.

EvaEsi is a whole new model line, built on the research from Forlais. It is a significant launch, and you can help shape it. The platform is already built and working. We need someone senior to take responsibility for quality, performance and reliability, and to lead the engineers who join as the team grows.

What you would do:

• Lead backend engineering across the EvaEsi platform through launch.
• Take responsibility for quality, correctness, performance and reliability across the platform services.
• Help turn a working system into a properly solid public product.
• Set engineering standards without slowing the team down.
• Work closely with AI, security, billing, infrastructure and product operations.

What we look for:

• Deep backend experience in Rust, or in systems languages with real production Rust exposure.
• Experience running a production service end to end: data model, correctness, performance, deployment and incidents.
• Enjoy making a working system properly solid.
• Bring an open mind and genuine readiness for a learning curve.
• Are results oriented and comfortable taking responsibility for outcomes.
• Are willing to adapt and try new ideas.

Nice to have:

• Rust web services, Postgres and Redis.
• Payments, identity or other correctness-critical domains.
• Scaling production systems.
• Observability, load testing and incident response.
